Best Homeschool Field Trips Near Orlando: Prices, Ages and Discounts

One of my favorite parts of homeschooling is being able to take learning outside of the house.

Central Florida has some great options for hands-on science, animals, STEM and creative learning—and several offer special homeschool pricing or programs that can cost less than a regular family visit.

I narrowed this guide down to four field trips worth knowing about: Orlando Science Center, Central Florida Zoo, Florida Children’s Museum and WonderWorks.

Last verified: September 26, 2026. Prices and program availability can change, so check the attraction before registering.

1. Orlando Science Center Homeschool Adventure Days

Best for: Kids who love experiments, engineering and structured STEM lessons.

Orlando Science Center's current homeschool option is

Homeschool Adventure Days for grades K–8. The program runs on select Mondays from September through May and combines an exhibit experience, grade-level lab class and live science show. One adult admission is included with each student's ticket.

For 2026–27, individual admission is $46 for members or $50 for the general public. A four-session fall set is also available for $200. OSC says it has limited capacity for Step Up for Students Direct Pay, available first come, first served.

Registration: Register ahead; these are scheduled homeschool days rather than regular walk-in admission.

One important update: OSC's separate Homeschool Field Trip program is currently listed as unavailable, so I would book an Adventure Day instead.

Money-saving tip: Families receiving qualifying EBT or WIC benefits can also access regular Science For All admission for $5 per person, although that discount doesn't necessarily apply to homeschool programs.

2. Central Florida Zoo Homeschool ZOOventures

Best for: Animal lovers, nature study and kids who learn better outside.

Central Florida Zoo's Homeschool ZOOventures are standards-aligned classes combining wildlife, conservation, hands-on activities and animal encounters.

Programs are divided by age, including ages 5–8, 9–12 and 13–17, plus special programs designed for families.

Individual sessions are generally $20 per child for annual passholders and $24 for non-passholders. Family programs are $38 for a passholder family of four or $43 for a non-passholder family of four, with additional family members at $8 each.

Registration: At least one week in advance, and classes can fill.

Discount: Annual passholders receive reduced homeschool-program pricing.

If you're planning a larger co-op outing instead, the Zoo also offers educational tours starting at $18 per child and $23 per adult, with one adult free per 10 children.

3. Florida Children’s Museum Homeschool Workshops

Best for: Elementary-age kids who thrive with hands-on projects, art, science and creative problem-solving. Florida Children's Museum is in Lakeland, so this one is a little farther from Orlando—but its homeschool program is specifically designed for ages 5–10.

The 90-minute workshops incorporate STEAM, literature, experiments, art, design and other hands-on activities. They are drop-off programs, which is different from the other options in this guide.

Homeschool workshops cost $20 for non-members or $18 for members. Because the workshop itself is drop-off, parents don't need to purchase admission simply to have their child participate. Families who want to explore the museum separately would need membership or paid admission. Regular Florida resident admission is currently $16 per person for ages 2+.

Registration: By 5 p.m. the Monday before the class.

Discount: Museum members save $2 per workshop.

This would be one of my first choices for younger elementary students who enjoy creating and experimenting but don't necessarily need an all-day field trip.

4. WonderWorks Orlando Homeschool Days

Best for: Active kids, older elementary students and families who want learning to feel more like an attraction day. WonderWorks is one of the easiest ways to combine a classic Orlando outing with homeschool STEM.

Its current Homeschool Days run during September and October 2026. Florida homeschool families can visit on qualifying weekdays before 3 p.m. for $22 per person plus tax. Groups of 10 or more can reduce that to $19 per person plus tax.

That price applies per person, so adults should budget for a ticket too.

Families can explore more than 100 interactive exhibits, and lesson plans and scavenger hunts are available upon request. WonderWorks' educational exhibits cover science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Registration: Groups of 10+ must reserve at least 72 hours ahead for the $19 rate.

Discount: $22 homeschool admission or $19 with a qualifying group.

You'll need homeschool ID or proof of homeschooling intent, and the promotional rate can't be combined with other offers.

Which Orlando Homeschool Field Trip Should You Choose?

For structured STEM, start with Orlando Science Center. For animals and outdoor science, try Central Florida Zoo. Florida Children's Museum is especially good for younger hands-on learners, while WonderWorks works well when you want an educational day that still feels like a big Orlando attraction.

And field trips don't have to replace your regular curriculum—they can help bring it to life.
